New Place :)

So I am finally living in my new place, and totally loving it.

I had a subletter for the summer, so all the communal areas are already moved in to and full of stuff, and everything is pretty disorganized. As my first real, grown-up (not college) house, I really want it to feel like a home, not a hodge-podge of stuff, so I am trying to decide what I want to do to help get everything organized.

The kitchen has almost zero storage space, so the first thing we are going to need is a cabinet with doors for dry food storage. I think I am going to buy some cute glass spice jars from Target, which are more sustainable than the plastic ones (because now I can buy bulk spices) and much cuter. I am also going to get some magnetized hooks to hang oven mitts off of to free up some drawer space. And I am going to figure out a way to organize all the pots and pans so that they aren't all thrown in together, stacked up on top of each other, so that to get one thing out you have to move everything else.

For the bathroom I want to get a glass soap dispenser, that will be more sustainable, and cuter than the grimy plastic one we have now. I also want to get a cute toothbrush holder, but that isn't something we need, just something I want :P

The living room needs some pillows to help tie the mismatched furniture together, and we also need one more small chair of some sort to complete the room.

In the dining room I want to buy some bar stools to go along the island that it shares with the kitchen, so that whoever is cooking can have company :)

And then up the stairway and down the hallway I want to make fake picture frames out of poster paper and poster board, and put up a bunch of photos.

That is my plan for this house. I am excited to get started transforming it, as soon as our subletter officially moves out :D

Remember this post?

Well, as you can see from all the blue "check"s, I have made some progress moving my life forward :) The only things not checked off are sneakers, a bike and a boy. I will get new sneakers eventually, but it isn't as imperative as it was when it was raining all the time in WA. Now that it's summer I can take my time finding the perfect pair. And I do not need to talk about boys right now, but I still do need a bike. I am going to wait until the perfect one shows up on Craig's List and then have my friend Izzy restore it for me. Ideally I would have a bike like this:

I am in California right now, and just finished going through all the boxes of my childhood possessions in preparation for a monster garage sale, and this friday I am driving my mom's old Prius back up to WA with me (!!!) My friend Malia is coming with me (think safe travel thoughts for us).

Anyway, I've packed up boxes and boxes of stuff to sell, and I am bringing about 10 boxes of stuff up to WA with me. There are some boxes and a bed and a chair and a few other odds and ends that are staying here, but by and large I've removed all of my stuff from my mother's garage!

And after a few weeks of couch surfing I will be in my new (perfect) apartment, working almost full time from home, and fostering puppies (!!!) It will be pretty much the perfect set up in my personal opinion :D

Okay, that's about it for my life update. I'll be back soon for a post about all the fab purses I found around the internet while searching for a new one for myself!

Blog Makeover!

I am almost done making over my blog!

I added a left side column, added the background wallpaper and the black background behind the posts, fixed the sizing of my banner, etc. (my blog was waaaay to wide before), Changed the "About Me" section to a cute Polaroid picture of me, added some new graphics and I added the blog buttons of a lot of awesome bloggers that I follow.

Now all that I need to do is make cute custom headers for a few different sections and create better graphics for my email and my pandaslovesurprises info and I'll be all done!

Then after that I need to figure out how to go about getting more followers :P

I would love to know what you think, and if you have any suggestions!

This is the bag that I have now:

I loooooove it, but it is falling apart. It's oil canvas (I think that's what you call it...) so the plastic-like outside part is starting to crack and flake off leaving the cloth underneath showing through :( Not noticeable to anyone but me right now, but soon I will have to retire it.

Unfortunately Borders has apparently fired all of its Paperchase buyers, and they are the ONLY place to buy Paperchase products in the States...

So I haven't been able to find it yet, but I will.

Or I find something better and then be able to say "screw you Borders and Paperchase and the fact that I have to work so hard to give you my money for a product that you flaunted at me!"

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts! It's about a man who escapes jail in Australia and flees to India, where he starts a clinic for slum dwellers. I just started, but by the end of the first page I was completely sucked in.

This is the first sentence of the book, "It took me a long time and most of the world to learn what I know about love and fate an the choices we make, but the heart of it came to me in an instant, while I was chained to a wall and being tortured."

And this is the last sentence of the first page, "So it begins, this story, like everything else - with a woman, and a city, and a little bit of luck."

Eeeeeep!!! How could you not immediately fall in love with it, right?

An Icee!!! Or a Slurpee. Either way, I just have been craving them ever since I had a sip of my friend's at Iron Man 2 (!!!) I haven't had one since...maybe I was 15? It's been a looong time. Luckily there is a 7-Eleven down my street, so I see a Slurpee somewhere in my future :)

Lovely Wednesday

I am sitting in my window seat listening to my neighbor's band practice. It's a little bit overcast today, but overall nice. I think I am finally back into a semi-scheduled existence enough to blog regularly, fingers crossed :)

This week (since getting back from my visit in Cali) has been a whirlwind of apartment hunting...

This dress feels like Japan crossed with Flapper. Love Love Love.

Like most dresses on the internet (I've noticed recently) this dress is entirely too short, but I want it anyway.

This dress embodies everything that I am obsessed with right now. Babydoll, check. Layers, check. Worn/slightly distressed looking, check. Sweetheart neckline, check. Neutral, but fun colors, check! Waaaant!

I know this shirt is a little strange, but I've been really into large graphics on shirts lately, and I LOVE the expression of the kitty, and the Japanese Lolita inspiration, and maroon is one of my favorite t-shirt colors, so it won me over :)

So clearly I am a failure at blogging regularly. I think I am going to remedy this by talking about what I've been doing on days that I don't have time to do a "Me Today" or a "My Life As..." or "A Shop of my Very Own" etc. etc.

And I know I talk about my life all the time anyway, but either way, hopefully this will get me blogging regularly again :)

I have been ignoring my crocheting duties, and as a result I have two critters to make and a custom order to finish so I can ship stuff out tomorrow. And then once I've done that I need to lock myself in a room somewhere until I've compiled enough Easter goodies to mail off to Modern Mouse and to bring to Monster Art and Clothing. These are my most pressing duties. I hate not getting stuff done in a timely manner.

Today was perfection - diner food with a friend, Peter Pan with my two favorite kids, then dinner with their parents! And now I feel guilty about blowing off all the stuff I should have been doing for all of that :P

But life is all about balance and I am finding the balance as we speak!

Filibuster

So anyone following me on Twitter (or friends with me on Facebook) knows that I've been mildly puppy obsessed lately, and already know about Filibuster (Buster for short), but since he STILL hasn't been adopted, I am still battling with myself about buying him, even though I know the timing is not quite right for me to be getting a dog. But I WANT him. He is a Standard Dachshund, and he is pretty big for a standard, so I think he is going to end up about 25 lbs.

At first I was going to name him Johnny Cash (Cash for short) then I thought about Jesse James (JJ for short) then I thought about Memphis and Sneaker and one of my friends suggested Filibuster, which is soooooo awesome, but part of me feels like his perfect name is still out there. Any name suggestions?

What I'm Reading:

I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith! I've just started, but so far it is fantastic! It reminds me a bit of the feel you get from The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which has a special place in my heart, and which I thought I had blogged about already, but I am appalled to see that I haven't. Well, you should read both if you haven't. Pure Magic.

The Song that is Stuck in my Head:

"Semi Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind. I listened to them growing up, and apparently NEVER listened to the lyrics, lol. But I'm listening now, and I love when music stands the test of time.

Who I'm in Love with at the Moment:

Lee Pace as Michael in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. My life has been anything but gentle and easy and whimsical lately, so I've been escaping into movies like this one ♥

What I'm Craving:

Shao Lin Noodle in Vancouver BC!!! Especially the cumin beef. Man, this place is impossibly good. You watch them make the noodles in front of you, it's very inexpensive, and the possibilities of what to get are endless. Sigh. I suppose now I am close enough to make a trip up there, but maybe I'll wait until after the Olympic rush has ended :P

Pacific Northwest Necessities

So, there are a few things that I've really started to want, and I've been thinking about them for long enough that it isn't just an impulse want, it's a real want, but I've been telling myself that I can't buy anything until after my move, because I won't have any place to pack it, buuuut, my move is happening a week from today, and I suddenly feel like I can buy whatever I want as soon as I arrive in Seattle :P

So anyway, I definitely don't have the money to buy all of these things, but I really really want all of them and they have practical pacific-northwest applications!

I really need boots. I only have one pair of fuzzy boots and that's it. And walking around in sneakers in the rain and getting the bottoms of your pants soaked SUCKS, so wearing sweater tights and boots/pants tucked into boots is the way to go. So naturally I need a few colors/styles :P

Tights!!! Tights are the one thing that I actually am going to buy in bulk no matter what. All through college I was content to wear jeans and a billion layers everyday, but this time around I want to look cute AND be warm at the same time. So. Tights:

I have these next two pairs in brown, and they are the BEST sweater tights! They are SO warm, but don't have busy patterns that make your legs look fat, they have vertical lines that make your legs look long!

Now, art! I am packing all my stuff (clothes, pots and pans, lamps, decorations, etc.) into the two checked bags and one carry-on suitcase that I can bring on the plane, and then I'm shipping up a box with all my yarn and fabric and crochet supplies plus bedding in it. So I am going to be living very simply for the next 6 months with just a mattress on the floor. So I need to decorate like crazy to make my little space a home!

And lastly a really sweet tool that I want to enhance my crochet life:

(It's this bomb chalk pen that writes on felt really well and you can brush it off with a tooth brush after you've cut it out! It will make my life sooooo much easier!)

And all of that will only set me back $637, LOL!! Sigh.

Busy Busy

My life has been pretty busy lately, so I apologize for not blogging more, although looking back through my posts, I guess I actually have been blogging a fair amount...

Well, either way, I've been really busy. I am moving back up to Seattle on February 2nd, so I've been busy finding a place to live and a job etc. Plus doing all the millions of things I need to get done in Cali before I leave.

And as far as Parami Panda goes, I've been busily designing Valentine's Day plush while madly trying to restock all of my shops who were nearly close to selling out after the holidays. I am hoping to get some stuff selling in Canada's Bumblebee Toys sometime in the coming months, and I am thinking about submitting some critters to Stuffed Magazine, but the deadline is February 15th, so we will see if I end up having time. I am also participating in a Craft Swap organized by Katie of the lovely SkunkboyCreatures, which is very exciting.

I am off to finish some kissing bunnies so I can post the rest of my Valentine's Day critters tonight, and then concentrate on stocking shops :)

So as we all know, I have a panda obsession (aka, paramiPANDA :p ) And in honor of that (and because I am stealing this idea from DigsUnderRocks ) I decided to do a post all about pandas :)

Mmmmm...

This picture makes me so happy! He was lost and forgotten, but now he is found! A little emo, yes, but adorable too :)

I got this bag for Christmas and ADORE it! It folds up really tiny and fits inside my purse!

And isn't this amazing??? No more "mickey mouse" one big blob and two little blobs for ears pancakes, you can have pandas!!!

I adore this Tiny Things Conversion Factory by MochiMochiLand! Pandas AND gnomes?? Who could ask for more?

Steppie is a great artist who's kawaii creations sell in some of the same shops as mine, and I think this ring of hers is amazing! I bought it for my sister for Christmas!

I want this panda jumper dress!! This picture makes it seem a little too...high fashion, but with a few tweaks it could be totally me :D

Okay, I am dying to have this shirt. And have three other people that I want to buy it for. Everyone will think we are on a team, but I don't care, I looove it!! Oh and it is called "Secret Lake" which just makes it a million times better!

I decided to start making treasuries again. I was pretty annoyed to learn that curator's items don't make it to the front page, even when their treasuries do, so I've been boycotting it for a while, but now I'm back :)

I think limiting it to one of your own items per treasury is enough, they don't also have to remove your item from the front page - if it was good enough to get there, what does it matter if it's your own item? Treasuries are a perfectly legitimate way to promote your items, especially when you are also promoting 11 other people's items AND it is only going to get to the front page if it is deserving of being there in the first place. This is how I feel.

But ANYWAY, I would greatly appreciate it if you would click on the jpeg of my treasury above. It will link you to the treasury, and then you can click on all the items and leave a comment if you feel like it :)

I met my goal!!! 100 sales yesterday! Woooooo!

I hope he goes on to a movie career after Dollhouse because I wanna watch him find his full potential. He is aweeeeesome. And so is Dollhouse, if you haven't seen it you are missing out! (And if you think this season hasn't been so good, think again! Joss Whedon got back on the scene and it is rocking my world!)

What I'm Craving:

The Ramen that I had in Japan!!!! It was soooooooo incredible it makes me want to cry knowing that I can't eat it here. And couldn't begin to try to make it for myself. Sooooo delicious. I love you Japan food...

Coats:

There is only one coat that I really neeeeed right now and it's this one. It's just so pretty! Don't you need it too?

Skirts:

Again, only one that I really need, and it's this one. I tried to resist, but I have resigned myself to the steampunk phenomenon, and what could be more perfect than this amazing skirt?

Other things:

So, one of my best friends (the one I blogged about for Thanksgiving in fact) has these Hawaiian tarot cards, and they are amazing! They always say super true things for everyone who she's ever read them for. It's amazing. I want them.

Wishful thinking things:

So this juicer is like $2000 or something, so I'm probably never actually going to own it, but it is the best out there, and using it (along with a specific diet) is supposed to cure cancer and diabetes and other stuff. Amazing, I say.

Accessories:

Um, hi most adorable tights ever! Who doesn't want these??

These buttons are also totally amazing, and only $3! I want to put them on my backpack, that is also tricked out with various cactus pups and calico critters that I turned into keychains :)

I have always always ALWAYS wanted adorable little caps for my keys, and these owls are PERFECT, especially because my purse has owls on it that look just like this, and my keys hang from the strap!

Bags:

This panda bag is perfect for carrying all my yarn for my various projects in when venture out of my house to get my crocheting done :P

OH. MY. GOD. Who wouldn't want this bag??? It's phenomenal!

So I have this stupid pouch with monsters on it in my purse to hold my chapstick and Kleenex and gum and stuff, but it's ugly and I don't like it, and this bag is totally affordable AND adorable!

Cards:

So this card is totally me. Totally totally totally. And I know at least three people who I could send it to who would find it hilarious.

Hilarious!!!!!! I neeeeeed this! To send to a certain boy in Japan. My dad would also find it hilarious.

Dresses:

Beeeeaaaaauuuuuutiful!!!!!!!!!

This dress is soooooooo me! It's one of my favorite colors, and it's a babydoll dress AND I could wear it with stockings and a cardigan right now in zee winter months!

I also looooove this dress. Totally adorable but also a little bit hard core. Awesome.

I have this idea that I would be able to wear this dress to work, and that is probably not true at all, but I do love the idea of an awesome work dress that is also an awesome party dress...

Yellow isn't really my color, but this dress is so cute that I want it anyway. Sooooo cute!

Books:

So just one book atm - 108 ways to transform a t-shirt. I saw this featured on Threadbangers (which is awesome!!!) and now I want to cut up all my old huge shirts and make them adorable!!!

Pillows:

So I have this amazing bed that is huuuuuge, and I want lots and lots of pillows on it, but awesome pillows, not boring pillows, and not only is this pillow awesome, it also has a secret pocket in it for hiding a journal!! How cool is that?

This pillow is also amazing. Expensive for a pillow, but totally worth it. Don't you think?

Movies:

I love Robert Downey Jr. and I love this movie!!!!!

If you haven't seen Kal Ho Naa Ho go watch it right now. Best bollywood movie EVER.

So clearly I really really love Robert Downey Jr. I need this movie. I am buying it for myself if no one else does. I'm just saying :P
