Bad Business Experience

So. I've had my first bad business experience.

I agreed to do a giveaway with someone, who appeared to have a professional blog, with great customizations and over 100 followers.

She posted my giveaway and it was full of typos and spelling errors. I send her a message letting her know that there were a few typos in the giveaway blog post and she wrote back, "I spell checked it - what typos?" It was about four sentences long, and still she couldn't go back and read it herself? So I proceeded to nicely point them all out to her (minus all the bad grammar, I figured I would let that go) and she wrote me back, and apologized, saying she was in a hurry when she posted it, but then NEVER fixed any of the errors!

This giveaway was supposed to go until October 30th. Well, I signed on to blogger today, to look at new blog posts, and there was one from her, announcing the giveaway winner! She decided that she didn't want to wait until the 30th (that's more than three weeks from now) BUT did not inform me and still hasn't. I have to make the bees that I am giving away, maybe a heads up that I need to make them now would have been appreciated? And more importantly, I would have publicized the giveaway like crazy yesterday if I had known it was the last day for people to enter!

Anyway, nothing bad has happened to me as a result of this, it was just a negative experience and I am appalled at this person's bad business, and nonexistent writing skills - she is BLOGGING for pete's sake - it is nothing but glorified writing!

Anyway, this was a learning experience for me, and I wanted to share it all with you, advice would be appreciated :)

  1. Man that sucks! Who in their right mind would think they could a) do a sh*t job in hosting a giveway, and b) decide for themselves when the giveaway ends?!
If i'm following this blog, i'm totally UN-following it! As for advice, oy, I really don't know what to tell you! I hope this doesn't sway you on dealing with fellow bloggers lol! I personally would be livid. I really hope none of this experience comes back to bite you in the a@@. (I don't see how it could, but you never know!!)
Best of luck with any future giveaways! :)

  2. :) Thanks for the support Kathryn. Yeah, I'm not really worried about it, just surprised! It isn't that hard to be considerate and professional! Oh well :P

  3. That is a bad experience. I would love to know which blog it is so I don't follow it. You could definitely spread some negative word of mouth :p.

  4. Haha, well I convo-ed her on facebook about the whole thing, and she feels really bad, and even offered to buy the giveaway item from me and have a new giveaway, so I don't want to bad mouth her, I think writing this post was enough :P

Buuut if you really want to know, I did write a blog post about the giveaway, (and it's the only one that I have done) so you could figure out whose blog it is pretty easily :P
